As the Director of Special Projects at Planet Labs, Courtney leverages her 16+ years working in aerospace engineering integration, operations and strategy to drive progress for programs and teams using tactical planning, steadfast execution, and empowering management. Courtney has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for space that took root at age 5. Even then, she knew that space travel was certain to be the greatest of adventures. In pursuit of this dream, she obtained a Master Degree in Aerospace Engineering Bioastronautics from CU Boulder before graduating from the NASA Academy where she began her career as a Systems Engineer on the Orion spacecraft. Her entrepreneurial drive, capacity to foster relationships and out-of-the-box thinking soon paved the way to forming new divisions for companies and to starting her own businesses. Though she found success, especially in working with start-ups, her dream of human spaceflight compelled her to join SpaceX in 2016 where she contributed to numerous successful Commercial Resupply and Crew missions. Living in Southern California has allowed Courtney to pick-up new activities like surfing, skateboarding, and playing volleyball, while she continues her passion of snowboarding and adventuring with her wife and twins by her side.
