After 15 years of celebrating space, it’s getting harder and harder to find a way of doing it that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before. But one 2016 event, at least, may be a Yuri’s Night first.
On April 12, the United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own”, will be performing a special Yuri’s Night concert at Fort Myer, adjacent to Arlington Cemetery just outside of Washington, D.C. “Music of the Space Age” is a musical tribute to pioneers of space exploration, both to the competition of the Cold War and to the cooperation that Yuri’s Night embodies. NASA’s Dr. Michelle Thaller will also appear as guest speaker.
The concert will begin at 7:30 PM, April 12, in Fort Myer’s Brucker Hall; the event is free and open to the public, but attendees will require valid ID to gain access to Fort Myer. If you can’t make it in person, the event will also be streamed live on YouTube.
