Looking for a chance to break out your writing chops and taste some Napa Valley wine? Well–who isn’t, right?
Napa’s Caldwell Vineyard has opened up entries for their annual Rocket Science back label submissions. You have 80 words to write an out-of-this-world, rocket-science-themed label and get published on the back of a Napa Valley wine. Here’s one of last year’s finalists:
Prepare to be blasted into a galaxy of cosmic dimensions, previously reserved for oenophelic travelers and terra firma armchair aficionados. Worlds collide as you explore the inky depths of this dark matter, a conjunction of star clusters including Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec, and smaller clusters of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Tannat.
Code name: “Rocket Science 2010”.
No passport required.
All systems “Go”.
All finalists will receive a case of Rocket Science wine with their winning label* and some pretty great bragging rights among their friends and wine lovers everywhere. Longtime Yuri’s Night followers may recall that a Yuri’s Night fan was a Rocket Science winner when we last promoted this contest in 2009, so you definitely have a shot!
To read other past finalists and submit your own entry, click here. Entries for the 2011 label are due by March 10th; going forward, you can submit entries year-round for upcoming vintages. Anyone can enter–there’s no cost, no commitment, and no limit on how many entries you make. You’ll have a better chance of winning if you go for quality over quantity, though.
Even if you’re not that great a writer, you can still join the fun!
Caldwell is generously providing a 10% discount on 6-bottle orders of Rocket Science red wine ($39/btl) to all Yuri’s Night participants. Use the discount code YURI during checkout.
Best of luck, everyone!
*In accordance with California state beverage law, accepted entries will be able to purchase a case of wine for $1.
