For its 5th edition of Yuri's Night we are turning a Montreal loft into a spaceport. Dance to space-inspired music, sip on space-inspired drinks, and ponder the possibility of travel to other planets.
Space-inspired costumes are encouraged. We award two prizes for Best Costume during Yuri's Night.

SpaceCamp (#spacecampto) will be an intense but informal gathering of space enthusiasts at heart from many disciplines: artists, astronomers, hackers, planetary scientists, engineers, sustainability focused architects & designers, web developers, and many others.

SpaceCamp is an unconference, where participants decide the topics, schedule, and structure of the event. Everyone who attends SpaceCamp is encouraged to give a talk, moderate a panel, run a demo, or start a discussion. Sessions are proposed and scheduled on the day they’re given, which means the usual “hallway conversations” turn into full-fledged topics.

This event aims to bring together people who would not normally have conversations with each other, and create a space for surprising, serendipitous connections. And what better place to generate creative ideas than our venue site, the Centre for Social Innovation!

Astronomical Center Salona (ACS) will organize two days of events in the city of Solin, Croatia. On the 12 of April there will be an opening ceremony for the celebration of Yuri’s Night in Croatia followed by a lecture from a member of ACS. Afterwards visitors can enjoy the art exhibition of commemorative themes and a movie projection of Yuri’s flight. At the end of the evening a public viewing of the night sky will be held. On the 13 of April the art exhibition will continue, followed by a movie about the life of Yuri Gagarin.

In commemoration of Yuri's night and the recent foundation of the GROS from Cuba (Grupo de Radioaficionados para Operaciones Satelitales, de CUBA).

The Camagüey City Amateur Radio Club invites to the Conference "Introduction to Radio Amateur Satellites at Yuri's night"

This will be celebrated in April 14 at 09:00 am Local time until 12:00 m, the event will cover the history of radio amateur satellites with recordings of contacts and possibly a ISS Packet contact demonstration.

The official presentation of the GROS from Cuba (Grupo de Radioaficionados para Operaciones Satelitales) will be held in the commemoration of Yuri's Night.

The FRC (Federeación de Radioaficionados de Cuba) invites to this event to all members and non members tho this event.

This will be celebrated in April 14 at 09:00 am Local time until 12:00 m, the event will cover the history of the group, the main goals an activities, and a talk by CM2ESP about the actual satellite status an operations.

Yuri's Night Astronomy Club will be held by Ayaz Astronomical Society of Tabriz.
The program includes screening of the clips about human travel into space and other details about the launch of Yuri Gagarin.

Children's Yuri Gagarin Research Celebration

An exhibition of drawings made with love and passion by the students of Classes IV A and IV B III of Comprehensive Institute of Scandicci (Firenze), Italy.

Children of ages 9 and 10 were told about the first space flight of the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin who, on Wednesday April 12, 1961, made his way through the sky where centuries before Galileo Galilei had aimed his telescope to explore new movements and worlds. This event was inspired and initiated by Vanna Bonta.

The pupils already knew of Vanna, they appreciate the beauty of the poetry of Vanna, author and poet who also works in film and is a colleague of NASA and advocates associations alike to explore space. Pupils remember the t-shirt and commemorative medal that I had worn a long time, a legend of Vanna Bonta became dear to the kids and .... all this and even more went into more than a month of education, research and drawings for this Yuri's Night.

With the parents' help, research of in-depth topics organized a biography of Yuri Gagarin, the first man who has traveled in space. Some even researched Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to set foot on the moon. The students then made very beautiful designs full of color; some have enriched the images with the gold designs where the figures are drawn full of joy in the faces and gestures. Looking at all these drawings one can tell each child has been very happy to have participated in this event.

For the active, practical cooperation everything has been possible thanks to the team of SUPER teachers sections: LUCIA, LINA, PAOLA, LAURA, ILARIA, and all PARENTS

I disegni realizzati con amore e passione dagli alunni delle classi IV A e IV B del III° Istituto Comprensivo SCANDICCI (Fi).

Raccontare ai bambini, tra i 9 e 10 anni, del primo viaggio nello spazio del primo cosmonauta: Yuri Gagarin che, guarda caso, mercoledi 12 aprile 1961, apre la strada in
quel cielo, dove secoli prima Galileo Galilei aveva puntato il cannnochiale alla scoperta
di nuovi moti e mondi, era stato stimolato da Vanna Bonta.

Di Vanna loro, gli alunni sanno, apprezzano la bellezza delle poesie di Vanna, autrice e
poetessa chi lavora anche nel cinema ed e' collegha di NASA e sociazioni per esplorare lo spazio. Gli alunni si ricordano della maglietta e della medaglia celebrativa che io avevo indossato a lungo, un mito Vanna Bonta, divenuto caro ai bimbi e.... per tutto questo ed ancora di piu' che per un mese e piu' hanno fatto, con l' aiuto dei genitori, ricerche, approfondito argomenti, organizzato una biografia di Yuri Gagarin il primo uomo che ha viaggiato nello spazio, qualcuno anche su Amstrong colui che ha messo piede sulla luna, per realizzare disegni davvero splendidi pieni di colore, alcuni hanno arricchito le immagini con l' oro, disegni dove le figure disegnate appaiono piene di gioia nei volti e nei gesti; ogni bambino si capiva guardando questi disegni, è felice di aver potuto partecipare a questo evento.

Per la fattiva, concreta collaborazione tutto cio' è stato possibile grazie al team delle
SUPER maestre delle sezioni: LUCIA, LINA, PAOLA, LAURA, ILARIA, DEI GENITORI

Story:
A new born child is trying to make its first steps reaching out to the unknown, learning about this world. Cosmonauts are pioneers in Space, making their clumsy-looking moves in the non-gravity world outside our mother Earth. There is an irresistable magnetism of the unknown that the humans obey ceaselessly. We adore heroes of Space, like Yuri Gagarin, the first man who made the first step into another world. It happened on April 12, 1961. Many things changed since then.
For years big nations competed in Space, but that's where cosmonauts from different countries shake hands and look at glorious Earth with adoration.
Meeting in Space is special. It is spatial.
When the first Romanian cosmonaut Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu flew with the Russian Leonid Popov in 1981 it was spatial.
Now, Vasile Nedea, a Romanian cimbalom player will meet Goldfinger, a dj from Russia and it iwill as spatial. And it's disco time again!

La ONG “Circulo de Arena” de la ciudad de Ica, comprometida con el desarrollo de la cultura, la ciencia y la tecnología de nuestra Región y del país, se hace presente en la Yurisnight con el desarrollo del “II CONGRESO AEROESPACIAL PERUANO” denominado: “REGION ICA, DESAFIOS DE UN DESARROLLO INDUSTRIAL – AEROESPACIAL”, evento que estaremos llevando a cabo los días 26 y 27 de Abril en las instalaciones del Real Hotel Ica de nuestra localidad, a partir de las 17:00 horas (hora Peruana) y que en esta oportunidad contara con la participación de importantes universidades del país, instituciones gubernamentales, instituciones privadas así como también de agencias espaciales tanto nacionales como extranjeras.

Este II Congreso Aeroespacial, se desarrollara dentro de un programa que incluirá temas relacionados a Educación, Industria, Ingeniería Aeroespacial, Astronomía y Telecomunicaciones y cuyo objetivo es crear un espacio donde converjan las instituciones publicas y privadas, los centros de formación profesional y el empresariado a fin de unificar estrategias y esfuerzos, en el desarrollo e implementación de programas académicos y actividades relacionadas a la ciencia y la tecnología, y a la elaboración, desarrollo y ejecución coordinada de proyectos, orientados hacia una industrialización a gran escala de la Región Ica y el Sur Peruano, aprovechando las potencialidades y ventajas comparativas que posee nuestra región con respecto a otras latitudes del continente y que a su vez servirán de plataforma para el desarrollo de una industria aeroespacial propia.

A la vez representa una nueva oportunidad para dar a conocer al mundo la figura de nuestro gran sabio “Pedro Paulet” verdadero padre de la Era Espacial y a nuestra “Región Ica”, como polo de desarrollo emergente del Pacifico Sur, con enormes potencialidades de desarrollo en Minería, Agroindustria, Petroquímica, Comercio Marítimo, Turismo, Energía, etc. Y que a la vuelta de unos pocos años la convertirán en la puerta de entrada al continente sudamericano por su estratégica ubicación en el Pacifico Sur y su importante conexión interoceánica con el hermano país del Brasil.

The usual second Thursday of the month pub night for the Friends of Kilgore Trout, Glasgow's Science Fiction fan group. This time the group meeting coincides with Yuri's Night so we're making a night of it.

Austin Friends of Yuri G are throwing a private party this year as a way of saying "thanks" to each other for 6 years of Yuri's Night planning. We'll take it out into public again next year for Friday April 12 2013! The University of Colorado Chapter of the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (CU-SEDS) will be hosting their annual Yuri's Night celebration on Saturday, April 14 at the Lazy Dog Bar & Grill in downtown Boulder. The event, which is open to the public, commemorates the anniversary of man's first spaceflight, that of Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, on April 12, 1961.

Every year, thousands of space enthusiasts gather around the world to remember and celebrate this monumental achievement which opened the floodgates to manned exploration of outer space. Yuri’s Night is a global celebration of humanity’s past, present, and future in space. Yuri’s Night parties and events are held around the world every April in commemoration of April 12, 1961, the day of cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s first manned spaceflight, and April 12, 1981, the inaugural launch of NASA’s Space Shuttle.

Tickets are $20 in the SBI ticket office in the Student Union (UB North) or available at subboard.com/tickets. Tickets go on sale March 19. Tickets will also be available at the door for $25. Admission includes a free buffet dinner provided by Pearl Street (wings, beef on weck, pizza, etc).

On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin made history by becoming the first person to orbit the Earth. Eleven years later, the Soviet Union released a film dramatizing the history of its space program. On April 12, 2012, NUSTARS presents that film, translated for the first time into English.

Readings from "Moon, the Eighth Continent" and other space poetry. Tricia Ferguson, editor of the anthology, will be guest host, and other poets will be present to read.

Audience members who desire to do so will be welcome to read their own favorite space poetry.

Yuri's Night at the Mars Desert Research Station!

The purpose of the Dark Sky Festival at Harmony is to expose the general public to the marvels of astronomy and the importance of protecting dark skies - not just for astronomy purposes, but also for the values that darkness provides to area wildlife.

Our entire family-friendly festival is held outdoors in low light conditions on the streets, sidewalks and park located in Harmony Town Square.

As part of the Houston celebration, we are planning to hold a 5 kilometer fun run/walk to be held at Challenger 7 Memorial Park in Webster, TX. Named in memory of the astronauts who dedicated their lives to the exploration of space, Challenger Park is an ideal location for an event that celebrates human spaceflight. This year’s event will commemorate the 31st and 51st anniversaries respectively of the first Space Shuttle mission, STS-1, and the first human in space, aboard Vostok 1.

Hosted by the Houston section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, this year’s 5k will be held Saturday, April 7th 2012, 8:15 a.m., with a kid’s 1k race to take place at 8:00 a.m. We are expecting approximately 600 participants, and all net proceeds will be donated to the Challenger Center for Space Science Education, an international educational organization founded in April 1986 by the families of the astronauts who died in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.

This year, the Minnesota Institute for Astrophysics at the University of Minnesota is holding a Yuri's Night celebration oriented towards public outreach! The event is open to the public and to all ages. There will be a short talk about life on the International Space Station given by undergraduates and a longer talk about solar physics given by Dr. Cynthia Cattell. In addition, we'll have astronomy related science demos/activities and observing through telescopes on the roof of Tate.

Human Spaceflight became a reality 51 years ago with the launch of a capsule called “Vostok 1” on April 12th, 1961. The capsule was carrying Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, who took his place in history as the first human to leave the bounds of Earth and enter outer space.

Upon reentry from space, Yuri Gagarin was ejected from his capsule at approx. 23000 ft, his parachute opened right away, and he safely floated down under canopy to earth.

Did you know Yuri Gagarin has soccer stadiums named after him? With that in mind, Yuri’s Night DC will be celebrated at DC’s original soccer bar destination. DJ Trayze starts at 9pm with food and drink specials running all night. Join Lucky Bar as they celebrate human space flight and join in the citywide Yuri’s Night DC celebrations!

We will have an astronaut testing and training course set up (hula hoops and sidewalk chalk if weather permits) and dancing and Tang.

To celebrate Yuri's Night 2012, Purdue Astronomy Club will be hosting a star party on Memorial Mall. Invite all! Bring your own scopes if you have any!

Attractions in the sky include Mars and Saturn. Venus, Jupiter and the Pleiades star cluster will be setting shortly after the Sun.

We will be setting up at around 9 pm and will stick around for a few hours.

Fifty-one years ago, Yuri Gagarin became the first human to orbit the Earth, ushering in the age of spaceflight. Join us on April 12 to celebrate this accomplishment and learn more about what Mach 30 is doing to make Yuri's experience available to all human kind. On 12 April, there are two things to celebrate. Firstly and humblest is the first year of distributed computing platform Constellation operation. With your voluntary help we achieved to process almost 50% of the first batch of workunits for the HyEnD hybrid rocket flight altitude optimization.
And secondly it's the 51st anniversary of the first manned space flight achieved by Yuri Gagarin. To honor him there are Yuri's Night events worldwide and there is even one in your area for sure.

But when you will attend one of those great parties, you could also attend this virtual Yuri's Night event and let your computer crunch for science and get some credits for our Yuri's Night team while you are partying hard.
Combined, we want to achieve at least 169.000 credits and hopefully 315.000 credits. Both numbers correspond to the orbital parameters of the apogee at 315 km and of perigee at 169 km of his record breaking flight (In case we will generate more, I will just convert it to feet ;))
You can do that by following the instructions below "Join Constellation" to install the little software called BOINC and attach it to the project you like (hopefully Constellation is one of it ;)) and by joining our Yuri’s Night team on the chosen BOINC project for the duration of the Yuri's Night events.

Celebrate Yuri's Night in a whole other world, at the International Spaceflight Museum (ISM) in the virtual world, Second Life. Co-hosted by the National Space Society and the ISM.

We will be hosting an event in the world of Star Trek Online in Quarks Bar at Deep Space Nine. There will be Space Themed trivia and drinks all around.
