Yuri’s Night is very pleased to announce the release of their “Yuri’s Night” application for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The free application, developed by Intrinsic Labs, allows Yuri’s Night followers and space fans around the world to keep track of the latest Yuri’s Night news and locate upcoming Yuri’s Night events on the go.
The 1.0 version of the Yuri’s Night app includes the following features:
- Live countdown to April 10, 2010, the Saturday closest to the traditional YN date of April 12 and therefore the planned date for most events
- A list of all currently-registered Yuri’s Night events (84 events in 29 countries, as of February 27); tap on an event for further details and contact information
- Constantly updating feeds for the Yuri’s Night blog (including Yuri’s Night Podcast installments, viewable on the ‘Details’ section of their respective update post) and for the @yurisnight Twitter account

Yuri’s Night is a non-profit organization dedicated to hosting global celebrations of humanity’s presence in space each April 12 in commemoration of Yuri Gagarin’s first manned space flight and the inaugural launch of the Space Shuttle. Currently in its 10th year of operation, Yuri’s Night hosted over 120 parties in 35 countries last year, including events in Tokyo, San Francisco, the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, and the International Space Station.
